Reading
I am almost done with Pomegranate for one of my book clubs and have mixed feelings about it. I am also hoping to finish up America the Beautiful? this week and that boring book about early 90s politics super soon. I am also fielding outside reading requests from my students like crazy, which is so fun. They have to read a nonfiction book and a fiction one this semester that have to be “approved high quality literature,” which means they have to run their ideas by me (and their parents) before committing. I just really enjoy seeing what they choose and also helping the ones who are stuck find things that I hope they will like (I just emailed a kid recommending Into Thin Air- I hope he loves it!).
Watching
We went and saw Paddington in Peru this weekend and I thought it was super cute- I love that effing bear (I’ve also had the country on my travel wish list for a long time, but now, definitely!). I am off this week and am hoping to watch Conclave (I know, as someone who is not religious this might seem a little off-brand, but I’ll explain later) and the new Bridget Jones movie on Peacock (for old times sake).
Listening
I just started a new audiobook, the memoir I’m Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself by Glynis MacNiccol, about a woman’s time in Paris in late summer of 2021. She’s not married and childless, so while I just started it I can tell that’s going to be a big component. I’ve been loving the two new singles from Lady Gaga’s new album, so I’m hopeful that when it comes out next month it will be on repeat. I need some upbeat music to listen to these days.
